Building a publishing platform around specialist intelligence

Our WordPress development for The Fashion Law focused on creating a publishing platform capable of handling a large and constantly growing body of specialist content.

The Fashion Law provides legal and strategic intelligence for the global retail industry. Its coverage spans law, retail, business, technology and international developments, with new analysis published regularly.

The challenge was therefore much larger than presenting articles chronologically. Readers need to move between current developments, deeper analysis and specialist subjects without losing context.

We built the site around structured editorial content and clear discovery paths. As a result, a substantial archive remains accessible while new reporting stays prominent.

Making a large editorial archive easier to explore

The Fashion Law publishes across several editorial areas and a wide range of specialist topics. These include trademarks, copyright, litigation, retail strategy, technology, M&A, regulation and international law.

For this reason, content discovery became a central part of the website architecture. Categories, topics, tags and filtering give readers several ways to move through the archive.

Article pages also connect individual stories with the wider publication. This allows someone arriving through search or a shared article to continue exploring related coverage rather than reaching a dead end.

The result is a publishing structure designed around both regular readers and the large number of visitors who enter through individual articles.

Subscription access built into the experience

The Fashion Law combines open editorial content with paid professional access. Therefore, subscriptions needed to work as part of the publishing experience rather than as a separate system.

We developed the membership journey around account access and subscriber-only content. Readers without a subscription can access a limited selection of articles, while subscribers receive wider access to the publication and exclusive resources.

The platform also supports professional resources such as legal documentation, research, briefings and structured datasets. PRO+ members, for example, can access court filings from cases covered by the publication and regular professional briefings.

This gives The Fashion Law a commercial model built directly around the value of its editorial and research work.

WordPress development built for continuous publishing

A publication of this scale never really stops growing. New articles, legal developments, resources and subscriber content are added continuously.

We structured the WordPress development around that reality. Editors can manage different content types while maintaining consistent presentation and navigation across the publication.

SEO was also important to the architecture. Clear content relationships help search engines understand individual articles and the broader subjects they belong to. At the same time, readers get stronger routes into related material.

The result is a flexible publishing platform that brings editorial content, professional intelligence and subscription access together in one system.
